Program Notes

A concert filled with captivating melodies and driving rhythms. The evening begins with Claude Debussy’s most famous work Afternoon of a Faun, depicting the dreams and desires of this mythical creature. Principle cellist, Betsy Husby performs Haydn’s upbeat and whimsical Cello Concerto in C major. We transcend into Arvo Pärt’s reflective and mesmerizing Fratres. The evening closes with Stravinsky’s Danses Concertantes, a bright piece filled with character changes, crisp rhythms, and tight harmonies.
