DSSO 19-20 Season Announcement

Dear Patrons and Friends of the DSSO,

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra has made the difficult decision to suspend the 2019-2020 Season.  Because of the limitations on group gatherings and the increasing restrictions in our daily lives, we see no path forward that offers us the opportunity to prepare for our April and May concerts.

This is an extremely painful decision to make, but it is the only one available to us currently.  We are actively working to reschedule the March, April and May concerts at future dates.  We will provide updates through e-mails, social media and our website.  We are also currently working on virtual activities, so please follow us on social media for more information in the coming weeks.

The list of concerts and programs suspended includes:

April 16 & 17 – Young Peoples Concerts
April 18 – Pop Goes the Classics
April 19 – Casual Concert:  Peter & the Wolf
May 2 – Carmina Burana
May 3 – DSSYO Spring Concert

If possible, the DSSO will still continue its Beerthoven On Tour Series until we return to Symphony Hall at the DECC.  Our next performance is still scheduled for April 16 at The Rathskeller and April 27 at Castle Danger Brewery, in the hopes that bars and restaurants will be reopened in time for the event.

All ticket purchases for any of our upcoming performances, are handled through their original point of sale. The following options are available for those that purchased direct through the DSSO Box Office. Please remember, transferring your ticket into a donation supports your DSSO during these uncertain times and we appreciate your consideration.

  • Hang on to your ticket until the postponed dates are announced. Once we announce the new dates, your ticket will still be valid for entry into the concert, otherwise the options below are available if the date conflicts with your schedule or the concert is not rescheduled.
  • Donate your ticket. As a nonprofit arts organization, DSSO relies on the audience we serve. By donating the value of your tickets, you are providing vital support for music that inspires and enriches our community. Please consider donating the value of your tickets back to support music in the Twin Ports.  All patrons who donate will receive a tax credit letter at the end of the calendar year.
  • Account Credit. A credit on your DSSO account can be made and is available to redeem for a future concert in the 20-21 season. This credit can be redeemed anytime AFTER August 10, 2020 when single tickets are on sale for individual concerts. Credits must be used by the end of the 20-21 season.
