Year End Giving

It’s that time of the year! The MOST WONDERFUL TIME of the year!

Charitable Giving and the DSSO! Two Important Reasons to Give Now…

As we’re all busily wrapping and mailing packages, planning our holiday menus and welcoming family we’re probably also thinking about those year end gifts.  Some of us take the week between holiday festivities and the end of the year to make those charitable contributions.  When you’re making those decisions please include the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra on your list!

ONE:  The standard deduction will be changing next year, which makes year end giving in 2017 more important than ever!

TWO: With a robust run up in the stock market many of us own highly appreciated stocks or mutual funds.  When you donate from these sources you do not ordinarily pay taxes on the amount the stock has appreciated.  At the same time, the charity receives the full benefit  and you receive the full deduction for the contribution.

Since the DSSO is not in the position of offering tax or legal advice, we encourage you to consult your tax adviser for more information.  Perhaps you’ve already done this!

From all of us at the DSSO we wish you Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! See you at the symphony! Maybe even on New Year’s Eve when we celebrate with a Symphonic Tribute to Prince!
